New Year's Resolutions

Happy New Year

Happy New Year to one and all. 2010 is now here, and it's time to set down our resolutions.

Here are some ideas to kick-start 2010:

  1. I resolve to make a Business Plan and to review it quarterly.

How much do I want to make? What is my average commission? Divide the amount you want to make by the amount of the average commission, and it will equal the number of transactions you will need to meet your goal. How will I get the necessary listings and sales to make my goal for 2010?

  2. I will no longer complain that the economy is bad and the real estate market is slow. Think and talk positive. Now is the time to buy. There is plenty of inventory and the interest rates are great.
  3. I will call and/or contact my clients from the last two years to say hello and to seek out new business. What a great way to stay in touch. Pick up the phone and say "Hello." Renew old friendships; ask about the house; and then ask questions to seek out new business.
  4. I will take one extra course in real estate or read one book dedicated to an area of real estate in which I do not specialize.
  5. Go the extra mile; learn something new. Take a course, read a book, get a certification. All will enhance your professional image.

  6. I will increase my sphere of influence by 5% or 10%. Join an organization; offer to make a real estate presentation at an HOA meeting; teach a class at a local college. Start a list of all the places where you are not known but could become a source of business for you.
  7. I will find a role model who performs better than I do and I will seek to determine that person's road to success.
  8. I will listen to: my customers, my clients, my peers, my family, my friends.
  9. I will be more open minded and embrace new ideas, even though they may take me outside of my comfort zone.
  10. I will put together a dynamic Listing Presentation that will explain role responsibilities and benefits.
  11. I will develop a good follow-up program to ensure continued business in the future.

I hope these New Year resolutions will help you get started in the new year. I'm excited about what lies ahead, and I am looking forward to the challenges that I know we will face. I hope you are too.

Happy New Year to one and all!

Happy New Year to you!
May every great new day
Bring you sweet surprises--
A happiness buffet.
Happy New Year to you,
And when the new year's done,
May the next year be even better,
Full of pleasure, joy and fun.

See you next week!
